Pathetic service, look out for some other movers.

Its worst and pathetic service.. They give you best deal but no grantee of your items, my few boxes are missing and most of furniture are broken.. And their claim process is bad, its almost 2 years for service but still struggling with claim.. Please look out for some other Movers and packers.. #Midwest movers are pathetic.

Don't Ever Hire Charter Van Lines or Midwest Movers.

I originally booked this with Charter Van Lines, who apparently subbed this move out to Midwest Movers. I was moving from Michigan to North Carolina.

My experience was almost exactly like that of Gretchen, whose review also appears here. The movers arrived at 6pm in a rental truck the night before they were scheduled to get there. They gave me a contract to sign and asked me to "hurry' so they could get started. Ultimately, they gouged me an extra $560, then asked for a 15% tip.

When I got to my new condo, I was told that any date that was promised is merely an estimate, as per the fine print in my contract. The same contract they told me to hurry up and sign.

My possessions arrived more than two weeks late. When I asked a question, the driver informed me that he could leave without finishing my delivery because he already had my money. When I told him I couldn't understand his accent, he said "yeah, but everybody understands it when I talk about money."

As in Gretchen's review, I talked to someone named Ashley. She was the rudest customer "service" person who has ever been perpetrated upon me. She refused to allow me to talk to a manager or give me a phone number I could call.

It was Ashley who basically told me "the truth isn't really the truth" when it comes to estimates from Charter Van Lines or Midwest Movers.

Anyway, for apartment or condo sized moves, use a real moving company, use Two Men and a Truck, or do it yourself. Whatever you do, stay away from Charter Van Lines and Midwest Movers. They are the nicest people in the world when they are giving you estimates. But once they get your money, they would rather have a root canal than talk to you.

Worst company I have ever worked with - Has had BBB revoked.

I would give this company zero stars if I could. I originally contracted through Charter and understand they are a middleman for moving companies, but what they promised and what followed from Midwest Movers are unethical and extremely poor business practices.

At Charter "Mac" their salesman was super nice, explained how they worked, and indicated a 2-9 day delivery from Michigan to Florida "because we are located there and drive there many times every week". He also guaranteed only the movers would touch my stuff at one end, and the same company would unload at the other end and it would never be in storage or handled by others "because they move this route every day". After contracting with them, Mac could never be reached again. This is probably a pseudonym for all of their phone contractors.

And that is where nice and good stopped. A very rude phone contact was made by Midwest Movers who couldn't guarantee the pickup time. (they eventually did arrive on time) which was good because I had to be out of my place by a certain time. STRESS.

Midwest Movers have had their BBB membership revoked (I later found out). They go by 4 or 5 different names so they are hard to find reviews for online.

The guys that picked up my things were super nice I have to admit. They did their job quickly and efficiently.

Then the nightmare began. First, they upped the charge by over a thousand dollars and my gross weight and volume was LESS than what had originally been quoted. One gas asked the other "what do you think?" and the other guy said "Ok I think about 720" which was WRONG since I had measured everything at it was 500.

Then it SAT IN STORAGE somewhere in limbo for 78 DAYS --- yup you read that right. Contacting Midwest Movers was met by one excuse after another, and at one point they asked "what month where you picked up". What MONTH?? The woman in dispatch refused to connect me to a supervisor when asked, and gave zero estimate or indication of when my move would occur, even after I filed A BBB complaint -- and found out their membership had been revoked.

Charter and Midwest Movers clearly hadn't communicated well because then there was a fight over how much I was owed back for such a delay -- 30 dollars per Day according to Charter in written format and in response to the BBB filing I made on both these companies. Midwest Movers paid 30 dollars per Business Day and made shady references to holidays and other things and argued with me -- NOT AT ALL what Charter had indicated to the Better Business Bureau. I have of course claimed reimbursement from and will surely get a run around that will require legal action.

The guys who delivered were of course super nice. Everything was in good condition. A few bankers boxes were broken but that's to be expected with stuff changing hands and locations over and over and over. Still, the men themselves were awesome.

The problem here is not the movers employees -- its the actual company, their rude phone customer service skills, their refusal to allow me to speak to supervisors, their refusal to respond to BBB open case inquiries and not a SINGLE apology from anyone there.

Never use this company. Seriously. The worst company I have ever worked with in my half dozen moves, and in 40 years of dealing with service industry companies at work and personally. I've never dealt with a worse company from top to bottom.

Stay Away at all cost!

First my things were picked up May 9th by 2 men who I am not even sure how they loaded my stuff (but by the end I see it really doesn't matter) One was physically fit enough the other not so much. I did not have as much stuff as I originally had said I would but yet they charged me $100.00 to load a flat screen TV. ( I opted not to load a desk or a poker table) but the TV was extra?? (and is now broken)

Next lets fast forward 2 weeks. I call and get the complete run around on a Saturday where someone answered the phone yawning and said the office was closed till Monday.. (WHY DID THEY ANSWER THE PHONE)

Tuesday I call to follow up on my things.. I spoke with an Ashley, who was so rude I bit my tongue several times. When I asked about my stuff on 5-22 I was told I needed to remember that I didn't even want my things till after the 15th, that I needed to let her go so she can get her men working and get my stuff loaded?, Not an honest answer of where or when my things were or when they would be here. I seriously think she is the rudest person I have ever come across..

Monday May 28th a gentleman calls and leaves me a voice mail my things will be here Tuesday between 8-10 am.. They arrived around noon..

So much is broken.. The boxes look like they played kickball with them.. Oil was leaking out of one box and he proceeded to bring it into my garage.. I pulled the box back out.. The dishes are in pieces, wooden boxes inside of boxes were broken.. my little stand was in pieces..My Flat Screen is ruined, I am so outraged.. Those were my fathers things that I was keeping as he has passed on..

I will never recommend this company to anyone..

I would be appalled if I was working for a company with such little disregard to peoples things.
